In March 2021, Sarah Davis, Mood Active Secretary and her friend Tara Lal will be embarking on a mammoth 5000km unsupported cycling journey across Australia. It’s all in the name of mental health and they will be fundraising for MoodActive and Lifeline.
The adventure will start at the most westerly point of Australia, Steep Point and conclude in Byron Bay. The aim of their mission is to encourage and foster growth through struggle.
Before they undertake the main cycling challenge, Sarah will be raising money by doing a pre-cycle triathlon of sorts on February 6. Taking about 12-13 hours to complete, she will have a starting goal of:
- 120km bike ride
- 60km ski erg
- 60km row
How can you help out?
Sarah needs people to come along, donate and do 1km or more on bike, ski or rower (or all of them!). The distance you do takes the equivalent off Sarah’s total. So for example, if you do 2km on the bike, Sarah has 118km to complete. Regardless Sarah will do at least the following:
- double marathon bike – 84.4km
- marathon ski – 42.2km
- marathon row – 42.2km
To get involved you can join Sarah at BeFit Training in Double Bay between 10am and 6pm. Alternatively you can help out remotely by sending a picture of the distance completed and the total amount donated.
There will be prizes for the fastest ski efforts in the categories of male (1km), female (1km) and mixed team (10km).
If you think you might be able to help, please let Sarah know by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org or message her on 0437 626 004. If you find you can’t participate on the day, no worries, but it would be great to get an idea of how many people are coming along.
